Job Title: Trainee Lawyer (Pupil)                                                                                        Report to: Managing Partner

Overview

As a Trainee Lawyer (Pupil) in our boutique commercial law firm, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced lawyers and gain a thorough understanding of commercial law. You will be responsible for supporting the legal team in various areas, including drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, attending client meetings, and assisting in negotiations. This is a training contract position that will provide you with an excellent platform to develop your legal skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal matters, including case law and legislation
  • Draft legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and legal opinions
  • Attend client meetings and take notes to support the legal team
  • Assist in negotiations, including reviewing and drafting proposals and preparing relevant documents
  • Participate in various training sessions and workshops to develop legal skills and knowledge
  • Work closely with the legal team to support the delivery of legal services to clients
  • Manage and organize legal files, including maintaining accurate and up-to-date records

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent
  • Completed the Kenya School of Law Advocates Training Program
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze complex information
  • Demonstrated interest in commercial law
  • Excellent academic qualifications
